That is a question I think a lot of engaged couples ask themselves when creating a wedding budget. Honestly, it’s a lot like comparing apples to oranges. Both mediums are an excellent way to preserve your memories from any special event but the end result is vastly different. A video “Love Story” is an opportunity for you, as a couple and individually, to tell your story. Unlike the Memory Montage, the Love Story is usually a video instead of pictures. We actually meet with you in a scenic location or perhaps even where the proposal took place. We then videotape each of you, separately and together and just have you tell your story on camera. We videotape interaction between the two of you maybe taking a stroll while holding hands or sipping a glass of wine, really whatever captures the essence of your unique relationship. Lastly, we edit the video in a way that tells your story both through words and images. The Love Story works great as a short video to play at a rehearsal dinner and ultimately opens your final wedding video.
Why Do I Want a “Love Story”?
First of all these videos are great fun, both for you as a couple and really for us as well. It is your chance to be a star for a day. And since these are generally taped prior to the wedding, it’s a great opportunity to step out of the wedding planning and bring into focus the reason for the wedding, your love for one another. Secondly, and maybe not as obvious, is 10 years from now when life is full to overflowing, seeing this video will be such an amazing thing to watch. A chance to step back in time and really know how you felt and see what your views on life were when things were much simpler. Simply put a Memory Montage is a picture slide show. Usually used at the beginning of a wedding video to tell the story of the bride and groom either from childhood through dating, or perhaps just their dating story. We chose to rename it because we feel we put way too much work into our final product to simply call it a slide show. With WaveCrest Productions your Memory Montage will tell your story. The pictures will be put in an order that makes sense to you, we’ll add music that fits your style, incorporate 3-D moves to the pictures that keep the flow going and we add backgrounds to enhance the images. Every couple dreams that their wedding day will be the most beautiful, sunny day possible. The reality is that this isn’t always the case. Fortunately when it comes to your wedding video all is not lost. Through the technology of color correction a gray day can often be made to look much brighter and dull skies can be made blue. Color correcting video is a process that happens in the post production phase of creating a video. It is a technology that was once reserved only for the highest end movie and TV productions but due to advancements in this area WaveCrest Productions is able to bring this technology to your wedding video.
Enhancements
When done well, color correction can make a nice looking video look spectacular. Here are a couple of frames taken from a video. These are before and after images of a color corrected video.
As you can see the picture on the left looks fine by itself but once the correction is added the colors are much brighter and the overall look warmer as well as adding depth (click on the images to see them larger).
Style
Another advantage to color correction is the ability to create an individual style. By adding a sepia tone to the image the 
video can take on an old world style or by adding extra blacks the
video can take on a cinematic style. The possibilities are as numerous as the number of colors in the world. As you can see with this video the image on the left is the original. On the right is the color corrected image. We have given it a vignette, or halo, around the edges creating a softer, even more romantic look for the image.

Over the weekend WaveCrest Productions participated in the “Wedding Bells” Bridal Show at the Metrowest Golf and Country Club. It was a great success as we met plenty of beautiful future brides and a number of other Wedding Professionals as well. We had a table located near the DJ so there was a little bit of competition to hear our demo video that we had playing but all in all it was really quite nice. There was a fashion show from David’s Bridal and entertainment from the Orlando Belly Dancers. Do people have belly dancers perform at their wedding?
Everyone a Winner!
There really were lots of winners as a number of door prizes were given away to participating brides. WaveCrest gave away a $50 gift certificate to FaceHaven (www.facehaven.com). Congratulations go to Cara Williams who won that honor and has a wonderful treatment to look forward to.
Getting Married a Messy Business
The grand prize of the day was a cruise for 2. In order to win, 8 brides were selected to take part in a “cake dive”. Now, I’ve never seen an event like this but basically there is a ring buried in a cake and whoever finds the ring wins the cruise. Luckily the brides were given gloves to wear!
The show was a success and we had great fun. We look forward to future appearances at more bridal shows.
